My Father is the late Stan Weiss, a recording engineer for Columbia Records in the 60's and 70's.and worked on one of the Moby Grape albums. I was a little boy of 11 years old when he came home from work and told my Mom that Skip Spence freaked out in a session at the studio on LSD and came after Jerry Miller with a fire ax. It took 7 people to hold him down before the EMS arrived. Skip was sent to Belleview Mental Hospital and stayed for 6 months. He was one of rock and roll's most talented musicians.

Jerry Miller was one of the best Bay Area guitarists of all time.

When I saw that finger on their first album I had to buy it. It was in he stores for quite some time before they put out a censored version.

My favorite band. Hands down. Why is Bob Mosley not recognized as one of the best bass players, ever? Listen to the way he's driving the whole band on "Hey, Grandma."

Haunting voice. A voice nobody can not feel downt one’s spine.

There were a small cadre of bands, when I was a kid, that signalled if you knew anything. The Beatles aside, Moby Grape, MC5, the Stooges, 13th Floor Elevators, Chicago Transit Authority, that bent the air a bit more....

RIP Jerry. What an annoying video. The dumb narrator talks over too much of the performance, saying nothing worthwhile. The images block lengthy parts of the first song--why? I want to see them play! Skip was the energetic performer. The other four were more of the stand-in-one-place and play. Skip would get excited.

I watched this on TV when it was first broadcast over 50 years ago. I haven’t been the same since. I’m not exaggerating; a life changing event. Thank you Taj Mahal!

Bob Mosely is the one without guitar, singing Come in The Morning. At 17:35, Jerry Miller (2nd from left) introduces the guitarist to his left. Sounds like he said "Dave Finity?!" or Dan? then Tiran Porter, then Peter Lewis. Don Stevenson on drums and vocals. Wasn't sure if it was Don until he sang. Spence gets called out from the stage by Lewis for the first time at 41:40.

Jerry Miller passed this week. Feel blessed that I heard him and his band recently in Brmerton. Such a talent on guitar.
